On 07.03.09 Christopher Liechti was the sole competitor from Eglinton Hunt PC to travel through to Angus PC’s triathlon but it was well worth it. He was 2nd overall in Junior Boys having a personal best in both his shoot(840), and his swim(7 lengths) and completing the run, over hilly terrain, in 6 mins 2 secs.

On 14.03.09 both Heather Ridland and Christopher Liechti travelled through to Fife Hunt’s triathlon.

Winter Triathlon Series

There are 4 competitions making up the winter series and the final placings are taken by adding each individual’s best results out of three.

Eglinton Pony Club is very proud to announce that Christopher Leichti came 8th in Junior Boys and Harris Ritchie, a commendable 4th in the Mini Girls section.

Well done to you both!

We hope we can encourage more of our members to try out Tetrathlon and the best way to start is the Winter Triathlon Series where you can concentrate on just the shooting, running and swimming. If you are at all interested, please contact Karen Ritchie at kyritchie@tiscali.co.uk

                            BO’NESS TRIATHLON RESULTS

We had six budding athletes through at Bo’ness for the last competition in the winter series and it was a terrific day out and there were some great personal bests.

Open Girls

Heather Ridland was 7th in her shoot, 8th in her run, 8th in the swim and was just out of the places in 7th overall. It is unusual not to have Heather up there in the top places and I am sure we will see her returning to winning form soon.

Junior Boys

Michael Craig had a great start in his first competition at junior level coming 6th in the shoot, a 5th in his run and a fantastic 1st in his swim!   Overall 6th place.

Christopher Liechti also had a great competition coming 12th in the shoot, 7th in the run, 9th in the swim and was 9th overall. Christopher gained personal bests in every discipline, an obvious result of all the extra training he is putting in!

Minimus Girls

Harris Ritchie was 9th in the shoot and then put in a terrific run and an equally terrific swim to come in 2nd in both. Overall 3rd place. Well done Harris!

Antonia Craig has just moved up into minimus and did a great shoot with a personal best score of 820, put in a solid run and had a terrific swim, another personal best!

Mini Mini Girls

Katie Ritchie had a disappointing shoot (although it looks like a wee brother may have moved her sights prior to the competition! Checks at the shooting club on Monday will confirm!!!) She then had personal bests in both her run and swim gaining 6th place in the swim.

The children that have competed in this winter series have put in an incredible amount of time and effort and the result has been terrific improvements from all of them in all the triathlon disciplines. They have all supported one another and made some good friends– just as pony club should be!

GLENROTHES TRIATHLON RESULTS

Eglinton Hunt Pony Club had 5 members competing on 10th of January 2009 at The Fife Sports Institute in Glenrothes.

Heather Ridland, in the Open Girls, was placed in all three events and was a commendable 6th overall (particularly after the Christmas excesses!!).

Christopher Liechti, Junior Boys, had a disappointing shoot, was 6th in his run and just out of the placings in the swim and 7th overall. He is putting in lots of extra training and I think we will see great improvement from him over the next few months.

Jack Hassard, Minimus Boys, was 7th, with a much improved score, in the shoot, well placed in the run, 5th, and the swim, 4th, resulting in a super 4th  overall.  Well done Jack, the highest placed Eglinton member competing!

Harris Ritchie, Minimus Girls, was 6th in a very large and competitive shoot, but had a very disappointing run after getting a stitch near the beginning and suffering from a septic toe! She was 5th in the swim, again a little under par and finished 8th overall. She will hopefully be back fighting fit for Boness in February!

Katie Ritchie, Mini Mini Girls, was 7th in the shoot, 8th in the run, and 9th in the swim but this resulted in her being 6th overall. This just goes to show that you can get placed well without being at the top in all three events. Well done Katie.

We are hoping that there will be at least eight Eglinton members competing at Boness on the 1st of February as Michael and Antonia Craig have returned from a  skiing holiday in Switzerland and with the addition to our normal team, of Fionulla Kerr who is now shooting with us on Mondays. Welcome Fionulla!

Keep up the training everyone and see you all on the 1st.

ABERDEEN TRIATHLON RESULTS

On Sunday 07.12.08 two members of Eglinton Pony club travelled the 180 miles to Aberdeen to take part in the 2nd competition of the winter series.

Antonia Craig competed in the mini mini’s.

She was 12th in the shooting, 10th in her 1000m run, 3rd in 2 minute swim and came a very commendable 10th overall.

Christopher Liechti competed in the junior section.

Although not placed in a very competitive section, he achieved a personal best in his 3 minute swim (your early morning pool sessions are paying off, Christopher!) and gained some valuable experience.

Well done to you both!

Remember the next competition of this series is in Glenrothes on the 10th of January 2009 - schedule now available at www.tetrathlon.org.uk  - look forward to seeing you all there!

The first competition of four took place in Annan, Dumfries on the 09.11.08

Eglinton Hunt PC had three participants

Antonia Craig competed in the mini mini girls section and came 8th in the shooting, 12th in the run and a very credible 4th in her 2 minute swim. This was Antonia’s 1st time at a Triathlon event and she finished in overall 7th place, a fantastic way to start!

Christopher Leichti competed in the junior boys section, a step up for him this term which meant that he had to go from shooting two handed to one. He was 7th in his shooting, 7th in the run and did a personal best in his swim of 5 and half lengths. He finished 7th place overall out of approx 19 competitors. Well done Christopher!

Harris Ritchie competed in the minimus girls section and came  3rd in her shoot, 3rd in the run, 4th in her swim and finished in 2nd place overall.

The next event in this series is at Aberdeen. Although quite a distance away it is well worth the travel for any budding triathlete out there. The next competition dates after that are Glenrothes on 10.01.09 and Boness on 01.02.09. Schedules will be available on www.tetrathlon.org.uk at a later date (Aberdeen schedule available now).

These are terrific competitions and a good opportunity to meet children from other clubs in Scotland.

Any body wishing to take part in these events, just looking for advice or wishing some shooting practice can contact Karen Ritchie at 01292 541231.
