Eglinton Team Show Jumping
19th November 2006
At Rowallan Activity Centre, Fenwick

  • Many thanks to everyone who helped run the event at Rowallan - some of our helpers were there all day! (over 13 hours!).
  • Also a big well done to everyone who came and competed - and we were sorry to here about Argyll South - who couldn't make it due to the weather conditions.

Your Views:
Following having to ballot teams for this competition - we would like to hear your views on how to improve the competition for next year:

  • First some information about it -
    • Rowallan with it's huge arena takes longer per competitor.
    • We had just under 70 teams who tried to enter this competition!
    • We had to limit the teams entered to 48.
    • We did not accept very late entries and only allowed clubs to enter 1 team per class, other than our own Eglinton members.
    • We started at 8.30am with the Pre-Novice, and aimed to finish around 9.30pm.
  1. Should the Dengie class be removed and run on another day?
(saves 2 hours and would have allowed nearly all teams entered to come)
  2. Should 2 courses of fences be set up in the arena (possible in Rowallan), competitors then jump one round then straight into the next? (this could save us up to 3 hours and allow most teams to come that entered + Dengie, but 2 courses to learn and if problems in first round does not allow you to go out and practice for second round)
  3. Should the competition be run the same way and teams ballotted?
  4. Should the jumping be held on a Saturday - so for competitors running later there is not school the next day?
  5. Or do you have any other suggestions?
