Eglinton Dressage 2005
Our Area Dressage Teams did really well this year at Barskimming where we hosted the competition. We had 1 Senior, 2 Novice and 2 Junior teams.
Our Junior Teams were placed second (Euan Hammersley, Sarah Gemmell, Clare Taylor & Lucynda Graham) with Euan placed 4th in his arena and fourth (Brogan White, Katie Pearson, Angus Cochrane & Mary Pearson) with Mary placed 4th in her arena. Well done to you all.
The Novice Challenge Dressage Teams also did well by winning this competition and qualifying for the Novice Championships. The winning team were Evelyn Crate, Rachael Malloch (2nd in her arena), Katie Offer (1st in her arena) and Heather Ridland. The other team were fourth, they were Rachel Offer (6th in her arena), Jane Geddes, Ian Cochrane and Ellis Simister (3rd in her arena). We had to change the team slightly when they went down to Cheshire adding Rachel Offer in place of Heather as Heather had spent most of her summer down south doing Tetrathlon competitions and had only just got back to Scotland a few days before the Championships! Unfortunately on the morning of the competition the Crates were unable to travel so our team of 3 although unplaced all rode good tests, so well done to you all.
The Area Team was Holly Rivett, Rachael Rodman, Susan MacBain and Rory Boswell. Having all ridden excellent tests in their warm-ups, with Rory and Rachael very well placed, Jaffa (Rachael’s horse) decided one dressage test in a day was enough for him and got a mild case of colic, which obviously meant he could not compete and we were down to 3 members.
So with all 3 scores to count a little tension crept in but we still managed to come second with Rory qualifying as an individual for the Championships.
