Arena Eventing is a competition which runs over the Winter - effectively an 'indoor' form of eventing.
The competition starts with a dressage
test which is run the same as in 'normal Eventing'.

The second phase - show jumping is also run as usual (with the exceception that it's indoors!)
Then to replace the Cross Country (XC) phase there is
a round of jumping over rustic show jumps made to look like XC fences
(similar to working hunter jumps). This round often follows straight
on from the Show Jumping round - (you still have to wait for the bell).
The phase will be timed at a faster speed than the Show Jumping, so
riders must ride forward into the fences to complete the round without
time penalties.
Finally
At the end of the competition, each test is scored individually and the penalties are added together for the final results.
The lowest score is the winning score.
The event schedule may state what is used in the case of a tie - often the fastest XC phase time is used.
