Gleneagles Team Show Jumping
Eglinton was well represented at this years Gleneagles Equestrian Centre
team show jumping competition held on Sunday 30 November.
We had 2 teams in each of the Novice and Intermediate classes. There
is
always a strong field at this competition and this year was no exception
with 25 teams in each of these classes and fences well up to the
advertised heights. The competition follows the timed second round
format with the fastest three rounds determining the outcome. For added
spice and to make sure that we all get home at a reasonable hour the
second round was over a shortened course that tests jump off skill and
nerve across the team.
In the novice we were third (Foxes: Heather Ridland,
Clare Gaffney,
Clare Geddes,
Holly Rivett) and fourth (Hounds: Katie Offer,
Clare Geddes,
Rachel Offer,
Tammy McWilliam) with double
clears but just a few seconds outside the winning time.
At intermediate we were miles ahead on time
but were unlucky to drop a pole and the Foxes (Heather Ridland,
Neah Evans,
Leoni Dunlop,
Katie Ferguson) finished third with
the only two clear rounds of the day ahead
of
us. The intermediate Hounds (Sharon Tait,
Susie Simster,
Ashleigh Brown,
Tracey Smith)
were just outside the places with 8 faults.
A special mention for Susie Simster (Intermediate Hounds) who had the
fastest clear intermediate jump off round on the day (out of 100
entrants).
Thanks to everyone for their support and well done Gleneagles Equestrian
Events - a whole day for two classes but captivating stuff and run like
clockwork.
