Novice Challenge Championships
23rd-24th August 2003
Two Eglinton teams qualified for the Championships in Cheshire - one in eventing & one in Show Jumpng (see area SJ).
SJ Team
In our team were:
- Rachel Rodman on Jaffa,
- Jayne Geddes on Holly,
- Hannah Hunter on Puddle Dub Welsh Witch,
- and Elaine Reilly on Sky High
Rachel, Hannah and Elaine jumped clear in the first round - giving the
team a score of 0 for the first round, with Jayne unfortunately having
problems at the second fence.
In the second round Rachel gave the team its only double clear - as both
Hannah & Elaine had fences down.
The team finished on a score of 20, which was not enough to get a placing.
Eventing Team
Having won the Area our eventing team had a change - Heather was competing on the same day at Blair Atholl in the Games Team. So the team members were:
- Rachel Rodman on Jaffa,
- Hannah Hunter on Puddle Dub Welsh Witch,
- Elaine Reilly on Sky High,
- and Ainslie Thomson on Cleopatra
After dressage both Rachel was placed 2nd in her arena, and Hannah was placed 5th, with Elaine and Ainslie putting in pretty good tests also.
In the Show Jumping phase both Elaine and Ainslie had a fence down, with Rachel and Hannah jumping clear.
Finally the Cross Country phase - with a tricky water; which was under trees so quite dark, and had a big log to jump over into the water. Unfortunately Hannah & Elaine had a stop here and Ainslie had 2 stops.
Rachel managed to jump clear round the XC after some very determined riding at the water! This gave her 2nd place individually in her arena, with the team placed 12th out of 32 teams.
