Camps 2003!

Our two Camps were held once again on Auchinleck Estate thanks to Mr & Mrs Boswell.
Thanks, of course, must go to all the helpers, the Camp Committee, and the two “bosses”(!) – Helen (Seniors) and Amanda/Ros (Juniors).
Around 50 had busy week at Auchinleck – helped this year by some decent weather!

Senior Camp

We had a small but successful senior camp this year, for once the weather was kind to us which was a welcome change. Our rides were small and all who attended learnt a great deal as well as having great fun.
The specialist Instructors were again very popular and we will try to do a similar thing next year.
Personally I thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration that Aileen Craig gave on show jumping. Watching her jump so effortlessly over those huge fences was amazing.
If you have any ideas that would help improve camp next year please let us know and I look forward to seeing you next year.
This year Camp Cups went to: Senior Boy – Rory Boswell and Senior Girl – Megan Wilson.

Junior Camp

What a wonderful summer we have had this year. The days have been warm and sunny and it was dry throughout the summer holidays even, unusually, including the week we spent at camp.
The weather really can make a difference and both children and ponies relished the warm weather and terrific going.
Camp was the usual mixture of team spirit and determined concentration as ponies and children were put through their paces.
The instructors were particularly impressed this year by the high standards we saw for inspection and so marks were high. Indeed it was a group made up entirely of boys who won the prize for turnout and stable management at the end of the week!
Everyone enjoyed their week and the improvement made was tremendous. We show jumped, rode cross country and practised our dressage tests before performing for parents on Thursday afternoon.
I’m sure everyone will agree that this was a great start to the school holidays!
Camp Cups went to: Junior Boy – Scott McElnea, Junior Girl – Mary Pearson.
