Other Competitions in the Year - report by Gordon

We have had a return to the Tetrathlon after the disaster caused by FMD last year. At the first triathlon in Fife we had four junior girls competing and Heather Ridland finished in 5th place. Well done Heather, just 12 and competing as a Junior this year which takes in the age group of 12 to 14. Heather is now on the Junior long list.

This was followed by the Fife Foxhounds Hunter Trial to complete the Tetrathlon. Heather was joined on this challenging course by Alison Wallace, also just 12. With a 3 foot course with full height fences this is a significant challenge for 12 year olds on 13.2 ponies. Heather had a clear round and Alison scored points that lifted them both into the Tetrathlon placings. Heather was 2nd and Alison 5th.

Next we had Perth Hunt Triathlon at Strathallan. Here we had three junior girls competing and all were amongst the places in one stage or another. Alison Wallace ran well to take 4th place in this stage. Hazel Gibson (also 12) swam well to take 6th place in this stage. Heather was placed in all stages and ended up 3rd overall. Alison was 6th overall. Heather and Alison completed the Hunter Trial at Hallyburton which gave them (Unofficial as Perth PC did not formally have a Tetrathlon) overall 2nd and 3rd. Alison did particularly well to lift her cross country score 1340 points with just one stop, and this just her second full cross country course at 3 foot.

Finally Heather took part in the Strathearn Triathlon and finished in 3rd place.
We have the nucleus of a very young but talented junior girls team and hope to compete at the Area and All Scotland events later in the summer. As ever anyone interested in some training and joining our team will be made very welcome.

Well done to all !
