James Dodds 1932-2002

We heard the sad news that Jim Dodds on September 16th 2002. Jim was the DC of Eglinton until 2 years ago, when he retired, taking up the position as branch president.

Jim is believed to have been the longest serving District Commissioner, of recent times, having served as DC of Eglinton for 25 years. Before that he was a member of the committee and also trained our mounted games teams. He was quoted as saying "electing him to D.C. was one of the Committees' best decisions as it led to Robert Noble taking over as Games Trainer".

But even after he gave up the DC's job, he was still seen regularly at competitions, keeping the score! Indeed this year he was planning to travel down to the Horse of the Year Show to support the Eglinton Games team in the Prince Phillip Cup at HOYS.

Jim was also a BSJA judge, often seen at competitions, such as the Royal Highland Show, in the judges box and selected the Eglinton S.J. teams for many years.

Jim's contributions to the Pony Club were recognised nationally when he was presented with the Cubitt Award for long service in 1995.

His high standards of integrity and diplomacy kept the Eglinton branch in good shape for many years, and we thank him for all he has done for Eglinton.

Service was held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock and thereafter Masonhill Crematorium on Tuesday 24th September.

The locations were filled - including many involved with the Pony Club past and present.

Our best wishes go out to his wife Matty and the rest of his family.
